Our Story

Rock Industries North Dakota (RIND) was born in the rugged plains just outside of Bismarck in the spring of 1984. It all started with founder Dale H. Rindell, a third-generation stonecutter who saw potential in the rich geological deposits of the Dakota basin. With a single rented bulldozer and a dream, Dale began extracting and delivering raw stone to local contractors and municipalities.

Throughout the late 80s and early 90s, RIND expanded its operations, opening its first permanent quarry site in 1989. With increasing demand for stable, long-lasting construction materials, RIND soon became a trusted partner in the region. By 1995, we were proudly supplying rock for highways, city infrastructure, and regional utility projects across North Dakota and neighboring states.

In 1999, we invested in a new fabrication line that allowed us to deliver custom-cut stone for architectural and commercial use. Our workforce tripled in just five years, and in 2003 we launched our first official website — the very one you’re browsing now — showcasing our humble origins and our big ambitions.

Today, RIND continues to be family-owned and operated. Our commitment to quality, honesty, and hard work hasn’t changed since Dale cut the first slab himself. We look forward to serving the next generation of builders, architects, and visionaries across the Midwest.
